South Park PA’s Jared Miley started off his 2010 campaign in the Hoosier Tire Mid‐Atlantic DIRTcar Super Late
Models with a win in the opening night feature. Miley took advantage of a front row starting spot to lead all 25 laps
of the feature. Miley and Steve Baker brought the field down for the start. Miley grabbed the lead with Baker in
second and Keith Barbara in third. The first caution appeared on lap 11, when Tommy Beck tagged the first turn wall.
On the yellow, Barbara pitted with overheating problems and ended his run. On the restart, Miley jumped out in
front again with Baker behind, and now with Mike Johnson in third. A battle for 4th started between Daryl Charlier,
Lynn Geisler, and Jim Stephans. Another yellow appeared on lap 16, for some debris on the low side in one and two,
which allowed the field to tighten up. Miley again took off, with Baker in second, Johnson in third, and now with Jim
Stephans in fourth. And that’s how they finished, Miley picking up his 15th career PPMS win, followed by Baker,
Johnson, Stephans, Charlier, Geisler, Jason Rider, Mike Davis, newcomer John Garvin Jr., and Chuck Medved. Jared
Miley and Steve Baker won the heats.
In the Brougher’s Machine Shop Fastrak Late Models, 2008 track champ Mike Pegher Jr. Wexford, PA won going
away in the 20 lap main event. Pegher Jr. who started 6th took the lead on lap 1 and went on a rampage lapping all
but second place runner Daniel Angelicchio in the nonstop event. At the line it was Pegher Jr., Angelicchio, Josh
Holtgraver, Troy Shields, Rick Megleye, Laura Lukon, Rocky Kugel (who came from the tail after problems in his
heat), Bryant Hank, Ken Chernik, and Mark Moats Jr. The heats saw Mike Pegher Jr. and Josh Holtgraver pick up the
wins. It was Pegher Jr.’s 7th career PPMS win.
