Mike Pegher Jr. of Wexford, Pa., grabbed the cleanest uniform in the shop on Sunday afternoon. With the name of racing legend and car owner Lynn Geisler emblazoned on his racing duds, Pegher ended a tough weekend with a stellar win over Max Blair and Robbie Blair, who made his FASTRAK Late Model debut in the 20-lap feature event. Pegher was fast enough to eclipse the track record set earlier in the night by the elder Blair. While running second to the younger Blair on the seventh circuit, Pegher lapped the track in 18.995 seconds, which equates to 94.762 mph.
“We didn’t finish a race all weekend until tonight,” said Pegher in victory lane beside the #1 Cochran Automotive/Triple S Auto Rocket No. 1C. “I want to thank the entire crew and all our sponsors, and especially Lynn for letting me race for him. This car was excellent tonight.”
Josh Holtgraver led the first circuit before Max Blair took command of the race on the third lap following a restart. Pegher ran third until a restart on the seventh circuit when he was able to use his track record lap to pass Holtgraver and charge within striking distance of Max Blair. On the 12th lap, Pegher made his move entering turn one taking the lead on the top side of the track. At the same time, Robbie Blair moved by Holtgraver for third. Those two battled back and forth for the third position before the elder Blair prevailed. At the finish, Pegher was the winner over Max and Robbie Blair, Holtgraver and Bobby Whitling. Robbie Blair and Pegher won the FASTRAK Late Model heats.
